Baldur’s Gate 3 Defiled Temple Moon Puzzle Solution

Open the door to the Underdark

During your journey through Baldur’s Gate 3, you will eventually come across the Defiled Temple, that has been taken over by goblins. There you find a puzzle in a room, that unlocks the door to the Selunite Outpost in the Underdark. Here we show how to solve the Defiled Temple Moon Puzzle.

How to solve Defiled Temple Moon Puzzle in Baldur’s Gate 3

On the floor of the Defiled Temple, you find four discs with four dots each, representing full moons (white circles), new moons (black circles), and half-moons. The puzzle solution can be found in a previous room, at Shattered Sanctum. There is a mural showing the four phases of the moon.

To solve this Baldur’s Gate 3 puzzle you need to spin the discs to end with black circles in the south disc (the illuminated), white circles at the north disc, and the half black and white circles at the sides.

Spin the discs in the following order:

  • 2 x North disc
  • 1 x East disc
  • 3 x North disc
  • 3 x West disc
  • 3 x South disc
  • 2 x West disc

Once all the circles are in the correct position, the door leading to the Selunite Outpost in the Underdark will open.

Open the door without solving the Moon Puzzle

There is actually another way to open the door without solving the puzzle. Go up the stairs to the north side of the room, and if you have a high perception, a Lever will be revealed. However the Lever is locked, use the Lockpick to free it and the door will open.
